Welcome aboard the Lord Nelson for a Tall Ship Tasting of New Brunswick Wine, Beer and Cider.

Visit the tasting stations at your own pace while discovering this unique setting. Light fare provided by East Coast Bistro.

Lord Nelson was the first tall ship in the world to be designed and built to enable people of all physical abilities to sail side by side on equal terms. In 2012-14 she undertook her most ambitious adventure with disabled and able bodied crews. Barque Lord Nelson sailed around the World, gaining her lots of new friends and sailors of all nationalities from Argentinians to Sri Lankan voyage crew.

Tall Ships Pub Expedition

Experience Saint John’s most popular bars! Join Freedom Tours as we set off on a guided afternoon pub-crawl through the uptown area. Learn about the wonderful history the city has to offer with a drink in your hand! Visit bars such as the Saint John Ale House, Five and Dime and McGills (Friday & Sunday) or Rocky’s Sports Bar (Saturday). Taste some delightful local brews at Picaroons and Big Tide. The tour will last approximately 3 hours and the price will include a wristband (which you will need to receive drink specials) and a sample flight at Saint John Ale House and Big Tide Brewery.

Cost:  $25.00 per person

Tour Times: 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, and 5:00 pm

Saints & Ships Uptown Walking Tour

Mahogany from Honduras, marble mantelpieces from Italy and intricately carved wood mantels were brought to Saint John on ships quite similar to the Tall Ships you will see on this tour. Saint John boasts many fine brick houses which add to the wonderful history this town offers. Join us on a 2 hour walking tour, which covers about 1.5 miles of the beautiful uptown, and learn how the shipping industry has impacted Saint John. Stand on the shortest, widest and steepest main street in Canada; walk through King’s Square to capture pictures of the Begonia Gardens and the commemorative statues; enjoy the Gothic beauty of the Trinity Church and stand in awe as you see to the Imperial Theater which was built in 1913. Last but not least, take an opportunity to visit the City Market which is the oldest continuing operating Farmer’s Market in Canada. Ranging from dulse to hand-made local crafts, the market offers a variety of goods and services providing a unique shopping and culinary experience for locals and visitors.

River Bay Adventures Tall Ship Kayak Excursions 

Join River Bay Adventures in stable double sea kayaks for an experience of a lifetime, kayaking the Saint John Harbour during the Festival of Tall Ships.  No kayaking experience is necessary, our guides introductory safety and paddling instruction, along with a high guide-customer ratio will allow you to enjoy the Tall Ship like no other tour.  This activity level is considered moderate+; you will be expected to paddle both with and against the tidal current.  Participants must be 18 years old. 16 year olds permitted with an adult or legal guardian.  Unsafe Impairment of any type will be cause for cancellation of ticket without any refund.  River Bay Adventures has the right to cancel tours at their discretion. A full refund will be provided if this occurs.

Kayak the Tall Ship Arrival and Visit to Historic Partridge Island

Paddle from the beach to Partridge Island as the Tall Ships enter the Saint John Harbour. We will visit the Island for a tour/walkabout and to continue watching the ships as they arrive. Experience spectacular views of the City, the Bay, and the ships both from a kayak and the shores of our historic Partridge Island.

Sturdy footwear and long pants required for the visit to the Island.

Cost: $126.50 per person, including hst

Maximum:  10 seats

Duration:  2-2.5 hours

Meeting Time: 8:45 am

Launch Time:  9:15 am

Kayak the Tall Ship Parade of Sail Departure and visit to Historic Partridge Island

Experience the Tall Ships “Parade of Sail” from a kayak and from prime look out points on the bays rustic Partridge Island. Experience spectacular views of the City, the Bay, and the ships both from a kayak and the shores of our historic Partridge Island. As did our ancestors, watch these sail monsters catch the full wind of the bay from the backside of the Island.

Saint John Festival of Sail activities at the New Brunswick Museum

Before The Mast at the NBM

Free with admission. As a prelude to the upcoming Festival of Tall Ships, Before the Mast will be performing at the New Brunswick Museum. This local, ECMA-nominated a cappella group will be taking stage in the Hall of Great Whales. With interjections of commentaries about shanties, ships, and sailors, these two 40-minute concerts will share the energy and harmony of the seas.  Afterwards, support the group by taking home their newest CD, “Hand Over Hand”, available in the NBM Shop!

Saint John Festival of Sail activities at Martello Tour

A Tall Ships Viewing Party!

Friday, August 18 10am to 2pm

Bring your binoculars to the city’s west side and pack a picnic lunch so you can enjoy the Tall Ships as they enter into Saint John Harbour. Panoramic vistas can be seen from the grounds of the Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site, overlooking both the outer harbour and uptown Saint John. Children can design their own privateers’ flag!

HMCS Brunswicker

Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat Rides

View the Tall Ships by water with the crew of the HMCS Brunswicker in a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB). Based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Must be on-site during hour of operations to register.

Saturday – 19 Aug: 1000-1800

Sunday – 20 Aug: 1000-1600

Weather permitting

Location: Market Slip near the lighthouse.

Life jackets provided. Waivers must be signed and safety briefing is required. Age restrictions will apply – will be posted on-site.
